About FIAT TORO
The Fiat Toro is a compact pickup truck (equivalent to C-segment) by the Italian manufacturer Fiat. The model was launched in 2016 by the FCA conglomerate (which is now part of Stellantis). The Fiat Toro is an exclusive vehicle for Mercosur. In some countries, it is also marketed as the RAM 1000.
The Toro was introduced in Brazil in February 2016, marking a milestone in Fiat's history, as it was the first time the manufacturer worked on a pickup truck in this segment. However, Fiat had previously worked on other utility vehicles such as the Fiat Fiorino and the Fiat Strada.
The Fiat Toro is based on the Small Global Modular Architecture platform, which was first introduced in 2012 on the Fiat 500L model. This platform is also shared with the Jeep Renegade model.
Unlike the Fiat Strada, which is smaller, lighter, and more designed for urban environments, the Fiat Toro is a much more versatile vehicle, blending its transport capabilities with comfort. The Toro is larger and longer, giving it more interior space and greater load capacity.
This pickup was initially launched with two trim levels, Freedom and Volcano, and was equipped with 170 hp diesel engines. The gasoline variant mounted a 1.8 engine with 135 hp. In this case, choosing one engine over the other is important, as each has a different load capacity. The gasoline model can carry 650 kg, while the one with the turbodiesel engine allows carrying up to one ton. However, these limits may be affected by the arrival of new engines with new displacements.
Regarding its dimensions, the Toro measures 4.91 meters long, 1.84 wide, and 1.74 high, with a wheelbase of 3 meters. This truck also features a combined opening system for the cargo tailgate, which allows a double-leaf opening or a folding opening of both doors as a single piece.
To date, the Fiat Toro has only one generation. It competes against other pickup trucks such as the Renault Duster Oroch, the Chevrolet Montana, or the Ford Maverick.
