About FIAT CRONOS
The Fiat Cronos is a B-segment subcompact utility vehicle from the Italian manufacturer Fiat. Upon its release, the Cronos replaced three models within the Fiat lineup in the Latin American market: the Siena Fire, the Grand Siena, and the Linea. To date, this model has had one generation.
This vehicle is the sedan version of the Fiat Argo. It shares its platform and also a good portion of its components. The car was developed by the FCA Brazil R&D center for the South American market.
Its engine lineup included the new 1.3-liter 16V GSE Firefly engine, fueled with biofuel (gasoline/ethanol), and the 1.8-liter 16V E.torQ engine. The 1.3-liter engine was offered with a five-speed manual gearbox or a GSR automated manual gearbox, while the 1.8-liter engine had a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed Aisin AW60T automatic gearbox.
In 2022, the 1.8 16v engine was discontinued due to the PROCONVE L7 emissions standard in Brazil. Finally, in July 2022, Fiat launched a facelift model of the Cronos, which included an updated front grille with new Fiat emblems, interior trims, and a 1.0-liter gasoline engine option.
Among the competitors of the Fiat Cronos are other utility vehicles sold only in South America, such as the Volkswagen Virtus, the Chevrolet Onix Plus, the Toyota Yaris Sedan, the Ford Fiesta Sedan, the Nissan Versa, and the Renault Logan (which is sold in Europe as the Dacia Logan). It also competes with other international models such as the Hyundai Accent and the Kia Rio Sedan.
