About FIAT ULYSSE
The Fiat Ulysse is a D-segment minivan that was developed in collaboration between Fiat, Lancia, and PSA (Peugeot and Citroën). The generic platform was known as Sevel Eurovan. This model was produced between 1994 and 2014 and represents an important stage in Fiat's automotive history, reflecting the market trend toward vehicles with greater capacity and family comfort before SUVs gained prominence.
This vehicle had 2 generations. The first generation came out in 1994. It stood out for its functionality and comfort, offering space for up to eight occupants distributed across three rows of seats. As equivalents, PSA launched the Peugeot 806 and the Citroen Evasion, while Lancia marketed it as the Lancia Zeta.
Due to pressure from other foreign manufacturers, the joint venture between these brands worked on a much more modern second generation of the Sevel Eurovan. In the second generation, which was introduced in 2002, the Fiat Ulysse adopted a more modern and sophisticated design. This version stood out for its higher level of equipment and technology, including a digital dashboard and improved safety systems.
All the engines fitted to this MPV were courtesy of PSA. In gasoline, it started with a 2.0-liter engine with 136 hp, with the option of mounting up to a 3-liter V6 that developed 204 hp. The diesel engines were sold as JTD, but they were 2.0 and 2.2-liter HDI engines that developed between 109 and 170 hp.
During its time, the Fiat Ulysse had major competitors. In Europe, its main rival was the Renault Espace, although it also competed with the Ford Galaxy, Seat Alhambra, Volkswagen Sharan, Toyota Previa, and Chrysler Voyager.
