About FIAT TEMPRA
The Fiat Tempra is a C-segment sedan produced by the Italian brand Fiat. It was manufactured between 1990 and 1996 in Italy as a replacement for the Fiat Regata. The original project was called Tipo 3, positioned as a model between the Fiat Tipo (Tipo 2 project) and the Fiat Croma (Tipo 4 project). The Tempra shares the Tipo 3 platform with the Lancia Dedra and the Alfa Romeo 155.
The Tempra was introduced at the 1990 Geneva Motor Show with sedan and station wagon body styles. In Brazil, a coupé version was also marketed. In other Latin American countries, a van based on this vehicle, called the Marengo, was also sold.
The initial engines of the Fiat Tempra were 1.4, 1.6, and 1.8-liter gasoline and 1.9-liter naturally aspirated diesel and turbodiesel. In 1992, the 4×4 station wagon variant was introduced.
At the mid-cycle refresh in 1993, the Tempra received a restyling that included aesthetic changes to the front end with a new grille and other details. Equipment levels were also expanded from the basic L version to the top-of-the-range SLX.
The main rivals of the Fiat Tempra were models such as the Ford Escort, Opel Astra, Peugeot 309, Renault 19, and Volkswagen Golf.
