About NISSAN KICKS
The Nissan Kicks is a B-segment subcompact crossover or SUV produced by the Japanese manufacturer Nissan since 2016. It has 2 generations.
The first generation of the Kicks was introduced in 2016 in Brazil on Nissan's V platform. It has a length of 4.30 meters and is offered with 1.5 and 1.6-liter gasoline engines with up to 125 hp, featuring a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT.
In 2020, the Kicks e-Power hybrid variant was launched in some countries like Thailand. This version combines a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with a 127 hp electric motor. It uses a 1.57 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the front seats.
The second generation was launched in 2019 exclusively for India, where it replaced the Nissan Terrano. It shares its platform and components with the Dacia Duster and Renault Captur, aiming to reduce costs. It has a length of 4.38 meters. Initially, it was offered with 1.5-liter gasoline and 1.5-liter diesel engines, but in 2020 production of the diesel was discontinued and a 156 hp turbocharged gasoline engine was added.
The Nissan Kicks was well received in the main markets of Latin America and Asia. In the United States, it successfully replaced the Nissan Juke, while in Europe it was never commercialized. An interesting fact is that in 2018 it failed the moose test (obstacle avoidance maneuver) in Mexico due to the lack of stability control in some versions. This highlighted the importance of incorporating this active safety system.
Among the alternatives to the Nissan Kicks are other small SUV models such as the Hyundai Creta, the Dacia Duster, or the Ford Ecosport, among many others.
