About TOYOTA SEQUOIA
The Toyota Sequoia is a full-size SUV in the E-segment produced by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota. It was launched in the year 2000 and has had 3 generations on the market so far. It is positioned above the Toyota 4Runner and below the Toyota Land Cruiser in the brand's SUV lineup. It is a model primarily designed for the North American market, where it competes with iconic models like the Ford Expedition or the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The first generation of the Sequoia was unveiled at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show. It featured a powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine with a maximum power output of 276 hp, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. In 2005, it received a facelift with updated headlights and front and rear bumpers.
The second generation made its appearance at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. It switched to a more modern platform with four-wheel independent suspension. The engines available were the same 4.7-liter V8 with 276 hp or a more powerful 5.7-liter V8 with 381 hp.
The third generation was introduced in 2022 and marked the debut of hybrid propulsion in the Sequoia. It uses Toyota's TNGA-F platform and a gasoline hybrid system consisting of a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with 349 hp combined with a 48 hp electric motor.
The main rivals of the Sequoia in the full-size SUV segment are iconic models such as the Ford Expedition, the Chevrolet Tahoe, and the Nissan Armada. All of them offer similar dimensions and performance in this highly competitive segment.
