Toyota Auris — TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

MODEL LIST - (UPDATED 2023)

| Home / Toyota / Toyota Auris List without Timing Belt

The Toyota Auris is a compact car (C-segment in Europe) by the manufacturer Toyota. It derives from the Toyota Corolla that was commercially available in Europe from 2006 to 2019. It used the same platform as the Corolla during its 2 generations, the Toyota New MC Platform. The Corolla continued to be sold in the rest of the world while the Japanese bet heavily on this model, which was a sales success. In some markets, the Auris was marketed as Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport.

Unlike the Corolla, the Toyota Auris is not available in sedan bodywork. It was sold only in 3-door and 5-door hatchback and station wagon versions, which Toyota calls “Touring Sports”. For the sedan version, Toyota sold the model as Toyota Corolla Ascent (model E140 and E150), corresponding to the tenth generation Toyota Corolla.

Both Auris generations were a success. It is a safe and reliable model. It has a wide range of engines, to which hybridization was added. The first hybrid Corolla models began to emerge timidly during the first generation as prototypes. With the arrival of the second generation, the first commercial hybrid models appeared. The Auris hybrid coexisted with the Toyota Prius.

The Auris never stopped being produced. Toyota decided to make a marketing strategy and rescue the Corolla surname in Europe in 2018, taking advantage of the entry of the Corolla XII. In some countries, a third generation of the Auris can be added, although in Europe this model corresponds to the Corolla E210, i.e. the twelfth-generation Corolla.

Its competitors were Ford Focus, Mazda 3, Peugeot 308, Renault Megane, Volkswagen Golf, Opel Astra and Honda Civic among others.
