The Toyota iQ (also named Scion iQ in the United States) is an ultra-compact city car (A-segment in Europe) manufactured by Toyota. It was sold between 2008 and 2016. In Europe, it was called Toyota iQ and Aston Martin Cygnet. In America, it was marketed as Scion iQ under Scion, the now discontinued marque of Toyota.
The Scion iQ is a vehicle especially designed to compete against the Smart Fortwo. It’s even more compact than the Toyota Aygo, although its price reflected that. It aimed to be the perfect city car: fuel efficient, low- environmental impact and enough room in the cabin for 2 adults and 2 small children to sit.
Apart from its petrol and diesel motor engines, the iQ sold electric variants, specially to carsharing businesses. These electric models were the Toyota iQ EV and had a range of slightly over 30 miles. They were sold under the name of Toyota iQ EV in Europe and Toyota eQ in Japan.
Despite having stopped their production, Toyota hasn’t stopped showing prototypes of this car at many motor shows.
