About OPEL SIGNUM
The Opel Signum is a D-segment family passenger car produced by the German manufacturer Opel under the General Motors group. It was sold for a single generation as a variant of the Opel Vectra C. The marketing of this model was done exclusively in Europe as the Opel Signum and Vauxhall Signum in the United Kingdom.
The Signum uses the same GM Epsilon Platform base as the Opel Vectra C and the Opel Vectra Caravan, with the Signum being a longer version of the latter model. Opel's idea with this model was to get slightly closer to the next family segment, positioning the Signum as a more affordable alternative to the Audi A6 Avant, for example. The Opel brand had neglected that segment since it decided not to continue the Opel Omega (Segment E).
The entire engine range of the Opel / Vauxhall Signum is shared with the Opel Vectra C. The petrol engines are inline 4-cylinder and V6, while the diesel engines are inline 4- and 6-cylinder.
The Signum was sold only between 2003 and 2008. It was then replaced by the estate variants of the Opel Insignia. However, the Signum received a mid-cycle restyling in 2005.
