OPEL ANTARA: timing chain or timing belt information

About OPEL ANTARA

The Opel Antara is a D-segment mid-size SUV manufactured by the American manufacturer General Motors under the German brand Opel between 2006 and 2015. It replaced the Opel Frontera. Its successor is the Opel Grandland X, which began production under the PSA Group.

The Antara is based on the GM Theta platform. Its technical name is "Theta off-road vehicle" and it was developed by the subsidiary GM Korea. It is a vehicle with an SUV body, transverse front engine, and front-wheel drive with options for 4×4 all-wheel drive. It shares almost all of its design and engine range with the Chevrolet Captiva. Regarding the interior, it can be configured to have 5 or 7 seats. There was also a sportier version called the Antara GTC.

As often happens with many General Motors vehicles, the Opel Antara is sold under various names and brands depending on the market where it is commercialized. In the United Kingdom, it was sold as the Vauxhall Antara. In Australia, it was sold as the Holden Captiva and Holden Captiva MaXX. In the United States and Canada, it was sold as the Saturn Vue, although it was also marketed in some US states as the GMC Terrain. Finally, throughout Latin America, it was sold as the Chevrolet Captiva Sport except in Chile, which kept the Opel name just like in Europe.

The Opel Antara only had 1 generation, although what we know as the "Theta off-road vehicle" continued its evolution within GM after the sale of Opel to PSA (now Stellantis).
