OPEL GT: timing chain or timing belt information

About OPEL GT

The Opel GT is a sports car (S-segment) produced by General Motors under the German brand Opel. It has 2 generations. The first dates back to 1968 and was a 2-door coupé. The second was launched in 2007 as a rebranded version of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. It replaced the Opel Speedster in Europe.

The second-generation Opel GT is a 2-door roadster based on General Motors' Kappa platform. It has a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Regarding the engine, the GT convertible is powered by a 2-liter Ecotec family block. It is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with direct injection. This engine was also available in the Opel Astra, Opel Vectra, and Opel Signum.

As a point of interest, this model was never sold in the United Kingdom under the Vauxhall brand, as is usually customary with all Opel models. The reason is that General Motors did not see profitability in launching a right-hand drive model.

The vehicle hardly has any trunk space. This is due to 2 factors: the space needed to store the soft top and the decision to place the fuel tank over the rear axle to better distribute the vehicle's weight.
