About OPEL MOKKA
The Opel Mokka / Mokka X is a B-segment subcompact SUV manufactured by the German automaker Opel. It is also sold under the Vauxhall Mokka brand in the United Kingdom and the Buick Encore in the United States and China.
General Motors produced it from 2012 to 2019 under the name Opel Mokka X. In the United Kingdom, the model was the same, but called Vauxhall Mokka X. In the United States, Canada, and China, it was sold as the Buick Encore. It used the GM Gamma II platform shared with the Opel Antara and the Opel Zafira Tourer.
When Opel became part of the PSA Group, it was initially thought that PSA would not be interested in continuing it. At the same time, the Buick Encore continued to be manufactured in North America. However, in 2020, PSA (now Stellantis) announced the second generation of the Mokka. This is produced on the Common Modular Platform (CMP EMP1), meaning the PSA group's common modular platform. Therefore, the new model shares components with the Peugeot 208 II, the Peugeot 2008 II, and the Opel Corsa F. A new electric Mokka (the Mokka-e) was also born under the umbrella of the French group. There are two generations of this car.
